baccealia project update
Following on from the launch of the Baccealia project in the May newsletter, TEECH are delighted to report the funding raised to date. The charity was aiming to raise funds for the project to help towards the approximate cost of £11,600 (lower than reported in May, after review with Moldovan colleagues).
The fundraising on GoFundMe along with donations from volunteers (who were due to be part of the August trip before it was cancelled due to the virus), some anonymous donations, plus an extremely generous donation from Jan & Barry Howe (who volunteered with TEECH on the Christmas 2019 trip), the amount raised so far stands at £8,600.
The charity is extremely grateful to all those working hard to donated. Joe Pickwell-Smith (the masked Master) is working the hardest we think, cleaning wheelie bins for his neighbours in exchange for donations. Ann (Joe’s mother) is also making face masks for the local community, for donations for TEECH. Volunteer Andy Fitt is also been making face masks for his villagers, who he meets on his paper and food delivery rounds, with a donation coming through to TEECH to recognise his efforts.
The bathroom project has now started at the school, with the Mayor and Director funded elements starting first. Internal doors have been removed and then blocked up where required, along with work outside to connect sewerage to the school and connect running water.
A page has been set up here for the photos, which we hope to update weekly as work progresses, therefore please pop back to view again soon.

Be aware that GoFundMe do charge fees on donations and also ask for a voluntary donation to their running costs (this does not come to TEECH). Choose 'other' if you wise this to be £0. How GoFundMe works is explained further here, and also on their website.
