baccealia project - further update from prior month
Progress of the bathroom project in Baccealia is going extremely well. The rooms have been plastered and partition wall erected, so the rooms have now taken shape.
Over the last month walls and doorways were removed and repositioned, with a partition wall erected between the boys and girls bathrooms. All plastering has been done and electrical wiring run. In the coming week the painting and tiling will commence (just waiting for the plastering to dry!) and then sanitary ware will start to be installed. New windows have also been installed, with a mirror within the one in the girls bathroom to allow for privacy at a lower level.
Sergiu, who past volunteers will have met on many summer projects, will be joining the team in Baccealia to add murals to the walls in the school in the coming weeks.
Letters from the Mayor, School Director and Romeo, as project manager, have been written to explain how the community and school will benefit from the project.
The Mayor comments on the key benefits from the project:
Fundraising is also going well and to date, both through the GoFundMe page and through direct donations £11,506 has been received. TEECH would like to thank everyone for their generosity, including the Rotary Club of Ipswich for their donation of £1,000. The project is on target to cost no more than £12,000 and would not have been possible without your support. If you would like to donate and TEECH receives more than required, any additional funds will be used towards the Christmas trip, where hopefully a visit to the village will be made, with shoeboxes and food parcels.
The photos page continues to be updated here on a weekly basis, therefore please pop back to view again soon.

- Healthy children, thanks to improved sanitary conditions
- Hygiene conditions will be a priority
- It is important, that pupils have healthy living habits and understand the health risks, if hygiene is not respected.
- The pupils will have facilities to wash their hands.
- As a result, many diseases caused by unwashed hands will disappear.
- Up to 80% of infectious diseases will be prevented if hygiene will be kept.
- Many generations of pupils will benefit from good sanitary conditions.

volunteers in the news
Ann and Joe Smith have been working hard to raise funds for TEECH and the Baccealia project over the last few months. So much so, they had a news article written about them, which can be read here:

donating to support the project
If you would like to donate to the project, then please view the page here:
https://www.gofundme.com/f/baccealia-2020
Be aware that GoFundMe do charge fees on donations and also ask for a voluntary donation to their running costs (this does not come to TEECH). Choose 'other' if you wise this to be £0. How GoFundMe works is explained further here, and also on their website.

2020 shoebox appeal
TEECH has started to contact those who regularly support the annual shoebox appeal. If you think you are in a position to support an appeal for Christmas, then please get in touch.
At this early stage we are hoping to gauge the level of interest. We know that many supporters will be working from home for the rest of this calendar year or are from schools, which have restrictions in place, which might prevent shoeboxes being completed quite so easily. TEECH will review responses and make decisions in September about how the appeal can then work.
Options will be considered as to whether fewer shoeboxes are taken but the team could take more food parcels, which could be easier to organise and make up locally for the charity. We will also be setting up a fundraising page to support the trip, to help with transport and maybe the purchase of food.
