baccealia project - The final stage
The bathroom creation at the school in Baccealia is now completed, with all tiling, flooring and sanitary ware now fitted, with just the toilet cubicles to be installed. The children will be returning to the school on 1st September, under restrictions due to the pandemic, with social distancing, wearing of masks in communal areas and less pupils in class, meaning shorter days to split the groups.
TEECH would like to thank Romeo, Elena the Director and the Mayor of Baccealia, for working together as a strong team to make it all possible. TEECH would also like to say a huge thank you to all those who donated to the project, meaning it was fully funded.
Romeo's email on completion stated:
I officially inform you that today on Independence Day of Moldova, the TEECH bathroom project in the school of Baccealia has been successfully completed.
It was a great honour for me and my team to implement this essential and useful project on behalf of TEECH and cooperate with the local authorities. Mayor, school director and the entire community are thankful to TEECH and all sponsors who contributed to this wonderful project. Generations of pupils will use and benefit the new and modern bathrooms.
Enjoy the pictures!
Greetings and blessings from Moldova
Romeo
As mentioned last month, Sergiu, who past volunteers will have met on many summer projects, joined the team to add murals to the walls, adding in the flags of the countries where volunteers would have come from if the team had ventured over to Moldova.
Please click here to see the photos of the bathrooms as they have taken shape over the last couple of months.
Particular thanks and congratulations go to Ann and Joe Pickwell-Smith, who have fundraised over £1,300 making and selling face coverings and washing wheelie bins over the last 5 months. The congratulations also go to Andy Fitt who has raised over £500 making and selling face coverings with colleagues at his newsagents (modelled by Philippa and Anja below).

2020 shoebox appeal
As mentioned last month, TEECH are asking you to get in touch if you would like to support the shoebox appeal this coming Christmas. It is early days but we’ll be planning a potential trip over the next couple of months, to ensure we have enough presents to take and/or food parcels, so we encourage you to email us in September if you would like to be involved.
We know that many supporters will be working from home for the rest of this calendar year or are from schools, which have restrictions in place, which might prevent shoeboxes being completed easily.
A fundraising page for the Christmas trip has been set up on Golden Giving, a platform which charges lower fees than GoFundMe, which we used over the summer, therefore more of your donations will come through to the charity. Donations will be used to transport the boxes and food to Moldova and/or purchase food to make up parcels. If for any reason the trip could not be undertaken then the funding would be used in 2021.

The return of Wonderful......
For those who are regular readers of the newsletter, you’ll know that the fundraising platform closed in March due to the pandemic. The site is going to make a return, and as the platform does not charge fees then TEECH will once again use Wonderful, likely from the start of 2021, when it is up and running.
