psychiatric hospital - Balti, moldova
This month we would like to tell you a bit about the Psychiatric Hospital in Balti, Moldova.
The hospital has been supported by TEECH for a number of years, where the charity has been able to provide beds, mattresses, some medical supplies, hygiene items and other small sundries, thanks to donations from many of you.
The physical condition of the psychiatric ward for men is extremely poor, bordering on inhumane so TEECH has wanted to help and do something about it for a while.
At the beginning of 2018 the project was considered in more detail, evaluated and split into three sections (which would be in three separate rooms).
1. Toilets inc sinks for the patients
2. Toilet/Sink for the staff
3. Showers for the patients
We are pleased to announce that funding has been found for 1 and TEECH will fund 2, therefore we are currently looking into sources of funding for the third and final element whilst TEECH work hard to try and source some of the supplies. If you or any contacts you may have would be interested in funding the project then please get in touch.
During the August trip to Moldova, if plans pan out, some of the volunteers will carry out work at the hospital to really put the TEECH stamp onto the projects, whilst also ensuring we achieve the school project in the village of Hasnasenii Noi.
Pictures of the hospital and the current bathrooms facilities can be seen by clicking here (also shown above). As the project to install the toilets (which has now started) progresses further, pictures will be added to the website.

summer project progress
Preparations for the school project in August are progressing well. The charity has enough aid to fill the two articulated lorries which will be taken, along with the charities van, which will take a smaller amount of aid for Romania.
We would like to thank all those who have taken the time to send through clothing and all companies who are donating key pieces of the supplies for the bathrooms for free or at reduced prices. A list of those donators is being compiled on the following page on the TEECH site.
