project 2019 in plop-stiubei
A team of volunteers will once again be making the journey over to Moldova in August.
The project will be in a school but will also support the local community and radically improve the hygiene conditions for the children. The village of Plop-Stiubei is the destination, in the Causeni district, south east of the capital Chisinau. It is a new region for TEECH to visit and support.
The school is large (as seen above) with part of it unused due to pupil numbers and the limited budget for the director to maintain. There are approx 180 children at the school but they have no indoor toilet facilities, using the traditional outside drop toilets seen all over the country. They have recently had the kitchen and dining area improved with one toilet for the teachers and now is the time to improve the children's facilities.
Two bathrooms will be created from one classroom, dividing it into two, installing toilets (with cubicles, which we find normal and expected in the UK, whereas the children may never have experience of privacy when visiting the bathroom), a urinal, sinks, tiling, painting, laying lino and lots more.
If you would like to help support the project then some of the items which the team are looking for include;
Paint – the team will require small tins of paint in various colours, to paint murals onto the walls at the school. If you are willing to donate any paint then please only send through full tins (or over ¾ full) in emulsion.
Tools - the charity is always looking to improve the tools for the projects undertaken. This year the team would like some new hand saws and woodwork clamps.
Thanks goes to Hatton Park School, Cambridgeshire for donating school chairs for the school in Moldova. Normally we would not take much furniture due to its awkward nature to store and transport but these chairs are stackable making it a lot easier.

clothing - don't delay send it today...….
The charity is having a big push at this time of year to gain good quality clothing. Clothing is taken on the annual August trip for distribution in the village, where volunteers are working in a school. Clothing needs to be of a good quality, so the locals can come and choose suitable items for themselves and their family. Adults and children's clothing is required, but its mainly the children where less clothing is donated (there is always a lot of ladies clothes). Items can be sent through BT (ideally in banana boxes to make packing and stacking in the lorries easier) and will need to be with the charity by the end of May to allow time for sorting and the necessary paperwork.
We would like to thank Choice Clothing Ltd, Suffolk for donating clothing to the charity which will be a good boost to stock for the summer shop.

roll up roll up - join the cycling adventure - sign up now
In 2019 Dave Astbury is planning to take a group of riders from Lincoln to MOLDOVA on pedal bikes!
Not the actual Moldova, but the Moldovan Embassy in London, which is about 155 miles (so just like a pop to the shops!)
The event is to raise money for TEECH's 2019 adventure to Moldova. The team will consist of about 5 people TEECH supporters, to join 5 people from BT. You don't need to be the fastest or best rider in the world (no pun intended), you just need to be available for about 3 or 4 days in Mid June (likely 13-16th).
Please get in touch with Dave if you are interested (places still available) and really support his efforts to get this fundraiser off the ground and make it a success ([email protected]).
Just imagine what we could achieve together and the fun we could have.
