"Helping those less fortunate create a better future for themselves"

pSv volunteer drivers information

Who are we?

The charity TEECH focuses on improving the lives of children, the elderly and the local communities in villages/towns in Moldova, Eastern Europe (and previously Romania). In Moldova it is the ‘norm’ for people to use outdoor long drop style toilets but we believe they deserve more, especially as we are in the 21st Century and these people are only a stone’s throw away from the UK.

Each summer we travel (overland) to Moldova with a team of volunteers, drivers and tradesmen, over two weeks to install toilets, urinals, sinks, hot and cold running water, showers and all the trimmings related to installing bathrooms
into buildings.

What are we doing in 2020?

From the 15th to 30th August 2020 a team of volunteers will be installing bathrooms into a school in a small village in Moldova. As it takes 3.5days to travel each way to the village from the UK we only have 8 days on site to complete the work, therefore it is always a challenge but very rewarding. We will be transforming two rooms in the school into two bathrooms, one for the boys and one for the girls.

Why do we need you?

On the trip we aim to take two articulated lorries (or one articulated and one 18 tonne lorry), plus a sprinter van and coach. We require volunteer drivers with PSV licences to come on board and help get us to our destination and back again.

The drive across Europe takes us from England and then through France, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Romania and into Moldova.

The Coach will leave the UK early on Saturday 15th August with the rest of the volunteers arriving on Tuesday 18th August.

Once on location all drivers get involved in being part of the bigger team and the project. On the journey home all four vehicles travel in convoy.

The charity requires all volunteers (including drivers) to fund their own expenses and to contribute towards the cost of the actual project (supplies) which is a total of £400 for drivers
(£200 expenses/£200 project). Please make contact so we can offer support with helping you to fund raise these costs before you decide this is too much to contemplate.
