the summer project

As mentioned in the February newsletter, the team of volunteers are off to the village of Sturzeni, Moldova in August (as marked on the map).

The charity would like to thank to John McPherson for producing the layout plans for the bathrooms. The team are now sourcing plumbing, electrical and all other supplies for the project trip.

The aim is to convert one room in the school into two, so that there will be a bathroom for the boys and one for the girls. In the boys bathroom the volunteers will install 2 toilets, 3 urinals and 4 basins. In the girls there will be 5 toilets, 4 basins, with both rooms also having hand driers, tiled splash backs and new lino flooring.

The room at the moment is in a poor state of repair, therefore there are many tasks for the school to undertake before volunteers arrive. We will be working with the school over the next 3 months to ensure the community is working together to replace windows and block up doorways.

Donations having been arriving and TEECH would like to thank all those who have donated items so far, in particular:
  • Van Os Medical Ltd for walking frames (photo below)
  • Saffron Walden Rotary Club and Physionet for wheelchairs
  • Bob Parfitt for nurses uniforms, glasses, crockery, clothing and many others items on a regular basis
  • Hope and Aid Direct for incontinence pads and clothing
  • Altro Ltd who will be once again be donating Lino flooring
  • Brightwell who are donating soap dispenser units
  • Brewers for paint
  • Gordon Smith of South Tyneside NHS Foundation trust for a lot of hospital equipment and supplies
  • AND not forgetting many of you who having donated clothing.

THANK YOU ALL
